Knowledge of the Client
Some Agencies place particular importance on knowing the Client and his/her circumstances. Not only will they assess the Client at home before they accept him or her, but they will also make occasional visits to ensure that the Client (or the Client’s Representative) is happy with the quality of care being provided. This means that the Agency is aware of any changes in the Client’s situation and can ensure that the Carer has the necessary skills and training. A visit also enables the Agency to check the standard of accommodation provided for the Carer.
Other Agencies will accept a new Client without an assessment visit, relying on information given by the Client or his/her Representative. In this case, feedback from the first and subsequent Carers is important for ensuring that the level of care (and thus the level of skill and payment for the Carer) is appropriate.
