Documentation
You must gather together all the original documentation and other information that you will need in the UK and should take two photocopies of it, one to leave at home and the other to take with you in case the original gets lost. This includes the following documentation:
- For entry into the UK. If you do not hold a British or Swiss passport, or one from a country in the European Economic Area (“EEA”), you will also need a visa, a letter from whoever supported your visa application, a return air ticket and a medical certificate confirming that you have recently had a chest X-ray and are free from tuberculosis.
- For the Agency. You will have completed a UK Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure Application Form (“CRB Disclosure Form”) for an “enhanced disclosure” and given it to the Local Representative, together with the fee, several weeks before you travel. The Agency will not allow you to start work as a Carer until it has received notification that you do not have a criminal record in the UK.
Note: You will also need the police check from your home country, birth certificate, marriage certificate, divorce papers, medical certificate, international driving licence and a utility bill or bank statement confirming your home address.
- For opening a UK bank account. Note that this is only possible if you have a permanent UK address, (see “UK Life/Banking“).
